Music Workshop by Yuva Kalamani Smt. Prarthana Sai Narashiman at Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal
Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal in collaboration Department of Kannada & Culture, Government of Karnataka, Ministry of Culture, Government of India, Yakshagana and literary Centre and Mani Krishnaswamy Academy® Surathkal a Music Workshop was held at Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal from April 18 to April 22. The training was conducted by Yuva Kalamani Smt. Prarthana Sai Narashiman. The programme was inaugurated on 18th April 2018 at Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal. The musical workshop was free for the participants and a few classical concerts, Yoga, Meditation, Pranayama sessions by Shri P. Nithyananda Rao, talk by experts like Smt. Shreemathi Devi on 18-04-2018 at 3.30 pm on the topic, “Hindustani Music: Its Footprints over the years”, on 19th April 2018 at 3.30 pm, the topic titled, “Food and Health” by Shri Addur Krishna Rao of Savayava Krishika Balaga, Mangalore, on 20th April 2018 on the topic, “Our Soldiers: Protection of our Country”, on 21st April 2018, “Bharatanatyam over the years” by Smt. Radhika Shetty, Director, Nrithyangan, Mangalore at 2.30-3.30pm.
On 22nd the participants of the workshop will present
variety programmes on the music they learnt at the workshop. On 21st
April 2018 a Karnataka Classical Musical
Concert by Miss Prajna Adiga will be organized
under the auspicious of Bharatiya Vidhya Bhavana, Yakshagana and
Literary Centre of Govinda Dasa College and Mani Krishnaswami Academy ® Surathkal. The programme will be scheduled at 4 p to 5.30 pm. Shriganaraja
Karle will be on Violen, Shri Krishnpavan Kumar G. N, Mangalore will be on
Mridanga and Master Sumukha Karanth of Kulai on Khanjira. Padubidri Shri
Shrinivasa Bhagavathar will be the Chief Guest.
Principal of the College, Dr. P. Muralidhar Rao, Vice
Principal of the College Prof. Krishnamurthi and other faculty members also
participated in the programme.

On 19th April 2018, at 3.30 pm, Addur Krishna Rao, delivered a speech on “Food and Health” Shri Addur Krishna Rao belongs to Savayava Krishika Balaga, Mangalore, He appealed to participants to be cautious while taking food. He dwelt in detail about the importance of water to human and animals. He also explained in detail, the role of fibre content in our food, the revolution created by millets. He also brought to the notice of participants the menace of endosulfan, and other vital issues connected with environment. His talk was well appreciated by employment.

Demonstration of VVPAT held in Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal
A demonstration of the Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trial (VVPAT) was held at Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal on 16th Monday 2018. The VVPATs with electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will be used in all the Constituencies in Dakshina Kannada District during the Assembly Elections. Speaking to faculty members and administrative staffs and students, Sri Ratnakar, Sector Officer of Krishnapura and Katipalla and Mr. Mohammed Ashraf, Sector Officer of Surathkal said that there will be a ballot unit, a control unit and a VVPAT unit in every polling station this time. Hence there will not be any doubt about the correctness of the voting process.
With VVPAT, voters will know for whom they had voted. They can see the paper trail in the VVPAT unit for seven seconds. During the counting of votes, the paper trails of one station will be randomly selected for checking. In the case of close contest, the VVPATs could also be checked, the officials informed at GDC.
Dr. Muralidhar Rao, Principal of the College, Prof Krishnamurthi, Vice Principal of the College, Dr. Mayya, Director of the PG Centre and other faculty members and non-teaching members of the college and students were present at this demonstration.

Academic Audit at Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal
A programme
on Academic Audit was held in Audio Visual Hall of Govinda Dasa College,
Surathkal on 13th April 2018. The programme commenced at 10 am with
the welcome and introduction of the programme by Dr. Shiva Shankar Bhat, Head
of the Department of Economics and the Coordinator of IQAC of the College.
Later Principal of Govinda Dasa College spoke about quality, its imperatives,
the importance of team work towards the accomplishment of quality and
responsibility of faculty.
Later, Dr.
Sureshramana Mayya explained in detail the digital initiatives undertaken by
the college as per instruction from Principal and Management of the College. He
informed the change of suffix of web address of Govinda Dasa College as www.govindadasacollege.edu.in instead
of www.govindadasacollege.com
and the benefits of this change. He also informed the implementation of G Suite
at Govinda Dasa College, its uses to move towards quality, its benefits to
faculty. He also explained the utility of having domain name based email
address and appealed to faculty to use their domain name based email address
and google classroom.
Later, the
Management team of the College joined the discussion. Sri E. Janardhana, President
of Trust, Sri M. Venkat Rao, Secretary of the Trust, Sri Madhusoodhana Rao,
Director of the Administration, Prof. K. Rajmohan Rao, Member of the Member of Hindu
Vidyadayinee Sangha and Former Principal, Prof. Y. V. Ratnakar Rao, Former
Principal, Prof. Ramesh Kulai, Coordinator of M.Com and Former HOD of Govinda
Dasa College and all faculties of Govinda Dasa College and Post Graduate Centre
attended the programme.
The
President of the Trust initiated discussion on issues like having a short term
and long term vision, sustaining the college during the changed circumstances,
to overcome the competition by other
colleges, how to maintain quality and commitment among faculty. He called the
Director of Post Graduate Centre to present his views on starting of new Post
Graduate Courses and the associated problems. Later, Prof. Krishnamurthi requested
the management to maintain the status quo regarding some courses. There were
discussions on viability and non-viability of certain arts courses, etc. Sri
Madhusoodhan Rao, the Director, Administration proposed a vote of thanks. Later
the Management offered fitting lunch to all the participants.

Felicitation to Deeksha Shriyan by Department of Commerce, Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal
The Department of Commerce,
Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal, well known for its quality education and
excellence felicitated Miss. Deeksha Shriyan for getting 4th Rank in
the Mangalore University B. Com Degree Final Year Examination 2017-18. The felicitation was
conducted on 12th April 2018. Dean of the Commerce Department
Mr. Ganesh Acharya, Principal of the
College Dr. Muralidhar Rao, Vice
Principal of the College, Prof. Krishnamurthi and all the faculty members of
the College – Ms. Shreedevi, Ms. Punitha R, Ms. Shilparani K, Ms. Pratheeksha, Mrs.
Bharathi and Ms. Ravikala were present on this occasion.
The Principal remarked that, "Congratulations to Deeksha, you secured the 6th rank and created a benchmark to be achieved for the next batch. To achieve anything, not only the student, the faculty too have to come out of their comfort zone, work with commitment, focus. The management has provided good infrastructure and motivation."

Summer Camp 2018 for Boys and Girls from 10 April 2018: At Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal
Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal
in association with Surathkal Sports Academy, Surathkal conducted Volleyball,
Throwball and Cricket Summer Coaching Camp 2018. The Coaching Camp was inaugurated on Tuesday, 10th
April 2018 at the College premises. Sri Gowtham Shetty,
Physical Director, DPS, MRPL inaugurated
the event.
“One has to show keen interest in
sports, Systematic and continuous practice helps a person to become good sports person. Interest in sports should
not be limited to sports campus. It has to be constant.
You can shape your good shape, good personality and it culminates healthy lifestyle” appealed Sri Gowtham Shetty, the
President of Torpedo Sports Club, Haleangadi and
winner of Dakshina Kannada District Level Rajyotsava
Award 2017. Mr. Pundalik Hosabettu, National Sports Person said, “With the help of institutional support we can
encourage sports personalities like Mamatha Poojari and more can emerge with constant
support”.

B. Muralidhar Rao, Principal, Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal presided over the
function. Edwin Charles, President of
Surathkal Sports Academy, Mr Harish Kumar, Physical Director of GDC and Mr Udaya Kumar, Physical Director of MDS
Pre-University College coordinated the programme. It is a matter of great
satisfaction that in Cricket, 60 boys and five girls, in Volleyball 55 boys and
20 girls, in Throw Ball 30 girls were undergoing the coaching. The coaching was
given by the President of Surathkal Sports Academy Ewin Charles, Sandeep
Kadambodi, Surendra Kadambodi, Sadhik Kulai, Rakesh Hosabettu were the trainers
in Cricket, Vinod Kumar Sasihithlu, Udaya Kumar Chelyaru, Nizamuddin, Jamuna
Singh, Nandan in VolleyBall, Sujith Saliyan and Venugopal trained the
participants in Throwball. The training will continue for a month.
